Cameo Portrait Questions

How long does it typically take to make a cameo?

I usually need 6 to 8 weeks to complete an order. Anything less than 6 weeks is a rush order - 4 -5 weeks is the quickest that I can do.

Do you have any cameo frames that look more antique or do you just have the white gold and yellow gold that are plain ?

My cameo frames are custom designed. I make them myself and I can design any style, antique or modern. Have you seen my hand engraved frames - I attach a photo of one below ?

What colors can you do the cameos in ?

The standard available colors for layered agate are white on black, white on blue, white on red-brown, white on green. I also have white on turquoise blue-green and white on brown. I also have three layer stones that are black, white and black. There are also solid colors - a turquoise green oval and Lapis Lazuli that I have in stock.

How much do the portrait cameos cost ?

I price my cameos by the amount of time they will take to carve and the cost and time in making the setting. As each cameo is a one off custom design I have some flexibility in pricing. In essence, the larger the cameo the more it costs and the price of the gold for the frame also rises.

• A cameo brooch of around 30mm by 25mm in size set in 14 kt gold would cost around $1750.
• A cameo brooch of around 40mm by 30mm in size set in 14 kt gold would cost around $2250.
• A cameo brooch of around 50mm by 35mm in size set in 14 kt gold would cost around $3500.
• Settings in 18 karat gold add 25% to the total.
• Options such as hand engraving inscriptions or designs are priced according to time involved.
• A cameo in silver would cost less, and prices start at $1200.
